Shook Kelley was hired to master plan a 900 acre site situated directly off Interstate-77, north of Charlotte, NC, that will be developed as new mixed-use community of up to 4,000 dwelling units and over 1 million square feet of commercial building area.
Shook Kelley conducted a three day public charrette incorporating sessions to present all of the planning, engineering and municipal services within the scope of the project. The project's design includes the reconfiguration of existing Intestate 77 Exit 45 into a double roundabout interchange, creating a hybrid spindle form street grid with traffic circle gateways into the new town center. A new main street is aligned as extension from the new interchange into the new town center and becomes a threshold into community.
