Carmel Middle School
Shook Kelley's scope of services for Carmel Middle School involved extensive renovations to existing 1970s building to provide a facility comparable to a new 1200 student middle school.
All areas in this 122,000 sf middle school were extensively renovated with all building systems being replaced or upgraded. The 18,000 sf addition designed by Shook Kelley provided a new, state-of-the-art media center and a new full service kitchen. The gym and cafeteria continued in use during construction except for the summer required to renovate those areas. Classrooms, Administration and the Media Center were housed in modular buildings located behind the existing building for the 13 months of construction which was completed six months early.
